Takin' care of some things

.... mask time....

on wednesday i got fitted for a handy tb mask. i am so thankful for our country's health regulations. without them i would miss out on so many dated health education videos. i warn all of you. one nurse was exposed to an undiagnosed tb patient and ended up with mdr tb, no work for months and only one lung. but she did have an old school nurse hat/crown/cap which may have made it worth it.

i think i need one of these caps. i don't expect it to protect me from tb.

this guy got the mask that looks like the cap. i don't think he understood. i could have picked the mask/cap but thought it was silly looking. the one i did pick passed all the tests on my face. i even got a sticker for my id to remind me what to grab when the outbreak happens.

.... swipe away ....

wednesday was also a day for becoming a person who can enter official spaces at ucsf. my id must be worn at all times (when at the medical center/campus). my photo looks a lot like batman's joker. i told the dude who took it that i was supposed to be taking care of people in the helping way, not the killing way. i don't think he got the humor. i made my way out of there real quick.

1362 3rd Ave

this is my new home. map. it sits atop a street that urges people to fall down it. the road's reds give it character, but make my footing unsteady. cars must run up it quickly so not to slip about. on move-in day a cell phone and a water bottle attempted downhill suicide. i fear for those in crocs, heals and masks of minimal sobriety. the house itself is a beauty. it got a face lift, boob job, liposuction and chemical peel last year. now it glows bright and all the UCSF students want to get inside.

my room hides on the top floor at the end of its own hall. it pokes off the back of the house and does a great job of being independent. its northern facing window (above) displays constant scenes of back porches, goldengate park and the land beyond. the library is my neighbor and its west side studiers have a wonderful view into my cocoon of a room.

the world of UCSF is all a minute outside of my little back door.

i am lucky.
